Nabil Mekky, Egypt’s ambassador to Niger, expressed his happiness to have Al Ahly’s football first team delegation in Niger for the second consecutive year.
Al Ahly's first-team delegation traveled from Egypt to Niger on Thursday on a private plane that touched down in the country’s capital, Niamey.
After receiving the team’s delegation from the airport, ambassador Mekky talked about the importance of having Al Ahly in Niger.
"I’m honored to receive Al Ahly for the second consecutive year. We are very happy to have Al Ahly here in Niger and we will provide all the support that the team needs."
"I hope that the team has a strong start in the CAF Champions League and proceed to win the trophy for the eleventh consecutive time in the club’s history."
"We made all the arrangements that the team asked for and the process was really smooth, as Al Ahly’s representatives took the initiative to communicate with us before their trip to make sure that everything goes as planned."
The Red Eagles will face Union Sportive de la Gendarmerie Nationale (USGN) in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32 on Saturday at 5:30 PM, Cairo time, at Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey.
